The Parliament of Iceland has passed a resolution for long-term support of Ukraine from 2024 to 2028. The document was proposed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland.

"I am especially grateful for the great cross-political consensus that has prevailed in parliament on this extremely important issue. Strong support for Ukraine is the most important security issue facing Iceland and Europe," said Iceland's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir.

She added that the international legal system, which is the basis for the security and standard of living in the region, is under threat due to Russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine.

"We must therefore contribute to the defense of Ukraine in a decisive and concrete way," emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The resolution aims to support Ukraine's independence, sovereignty, borders, civilian security, humanitarian assistance, and reconstruction efforts.

Since the beginning of Russia's aggression in Ukraine, Iceland has actively provided humanitarian, economic, and military assistance to the country. Support is primarily provided through international organizations such as the UN, World Bank, NATO, and others.
