Russian forces attacked the Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region on Saturday, January 6, with S-300 missiles: as a result of enemy shelling, 11 people were killed, including 5 children. Additionally, 8 individuals have been reported injured.

The head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Vadim Filashkin, reported the overnight Russian attack.

"Pokrovsk is under enemy fire again. Tonight, the Russians shelled the city twice, hitting the administrative building. Garages and cars are on fire," he wrote.

Later, he reported that the private sector of Pokrovsk came under Russian attack: 6 buildings were destroyed. Additionally, as a result of the occupant's attack, a fire broke out in Rivne, Myrnograd community. According to Filashkin, the Russians targeted a house where, presumably, a family of 6 people was staying.

Later, the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration informed that as of 17:58 in the Pokrovsky district, at least 11 people had been killed due to the Russian attack. Among the casualties were 5 children.

"The Russians hit the area with S-300 missiles, killing 11 people and injuring 8 more. The main strike was on Pokrovsk and Rivny, Myrnograd community," he wrote.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky responded to the shelling of the Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region. He informed that as of 19:15, a rescue operation and debris removal were ongoing, involving all necessary services.

"The Russian strike was simply on ordinary residential buildings, on private houses. All the wounded are being provided with the necessary assistance. And Russia must feel – always feel – that none of such strikes will go unanswered for the terrorist state. We must ensure this with our strength, our own defense and political capabilities," emphasized the president.
