Despite the restrictions on Covid-19, citizens of different countries actively visited Ukraine in 2021. The number of foreigners who crossed the border of our country in 2021, compared to 2020, increased by 26.3% and amounted to almost 4.271 million people. By the statistics of State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine (SATD).

The list of countries from which the largest number of people came to Ukraine (TOP-10) is headed by Moldova - 1 million 054 thousand, followed by Russia - 519 thousand, Poland - 311 thousand, Belarus - 273 thousand, Romania - 264 thousand, Turkey - 247 thousand, Hungary - 227 thousand, Germany - 154 thousand, Israel - 133 thousand, USA - 103 thousand.

Actively interested in visiting Ukraine: Saudi Arabia - 56 thousand, Italy - 56 thousand, Great Britain - 56 thousand, Georgia - 49 thousand, Azerbaijan - 48 thousand, India - 48 thousand, France - 39 thousand, the Czech Republic - 38 thousand, Slovakia - 31 thousand, Armenia - 25 thousand, the Netherlands - 24 thousand.

For the first time in 30 years, the analysis and understanding of various tourist markets that interest Ukraine as a location for travel and recreation is being formed at the state level.

As for Ukrainians, 14.7 million of our compatriots crossed the border last year.

TOP millionaire destinations: Poland - 4.49 million, Turkey - 2.05 million, Hungary - 1.72 million, Egypt - 1.46 million.

Also the most active European destinations: Romania - 825 thousand, Slovakia - 343 thousand, Germany - 267 thousand, Greece - 199 thousand, Italy - 194 thousand.

In total, 8,832,616 of our citizens travelled directly to Ukraine from the European Union in 2021.

In addition to Europe, Ukrainians chose many other areas: Russia - 918 thousand, Moldova - 380 thousand, Belarus - 213 thousand, the UAE - 199 thousand, Georgia - 159 thousand, Montenegro - 124 thousand.

The head of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine Maryana Oleskiv notes that the data on crossing the state border significantly complement the DART analysis, including a large survey of travellers.

For each category, we have a clear portrait of the traveller and know precisely the purpose of his trip. We will soon make this information fully available to the Ukrainian community. And the strategic goal is to increase the number of foreign guests every year and encourage Ukrainians to get to know their country more and more often.

According to a survey conducted by SATD , 56% of Ukrainians planning their vacation abroad used the help of travel service providers - tour operators and travel agencies. 44% planned their travels on their own.

Over the past year, 18% of citizens have travelled abroad at least once. When asked about the countries of the last trip abroad, the respondents mainly mentioned: European countries - 42%, Turkey - 28%, and Egypt - 21%.

Another 5% visited the countries of the former Soviet Union; 2% travelled to Asia and Africa, while 1% of North and South Americans and Arab countries visited.
