Last year, Ukraine received a $20 billion deferment on its external debt for 2 years.

Ukraine's public debt increased by $13 billion in 2022 to $111 billion.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal spoke about this during a press conference.

"Significant financial international support of $38.5 billion during 2022 made it possible to increase the public debt slightly. As of the beginning of the year, the public debt is $111 billion, it has increased by $13 billion compared to the year before," Shmyhal said.

In 2022, Ukraine restructured part of the public debt; namely, it received a deferment on external debt for $20 billion for 2 years.

In July, the Ministry of Finance noted that the deferment of debt service payments on Eurobonds and warrants would allow the saved $5 billion to be used for urgent needs - social protection and monetary support for military personnel.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine would save almost 6 billion dollars thanks to restructuring the external debt. Investors in Ukraine's external debt have agreed to defer payments until 2024 with a possible extension for another year.
