For two months of the war, Ukrposhta, Wind Rose, and Dnipro LLC. 300 tons of humanitarian aid worth about $ 25 million was delivered to Ukraine

On February 24, the skies over civil aviation over Ukraine were closed entirely. For many companies, this could mean the cessation of all air deliveries and the forced change of logistics routes in favor of delivery by land. Export shipments organized by postal and logistics operators, especially those sent overseas to the United States, were threatened. In particular, Ukrposhta, which before the war delivered more than 120 tons of exports to the United States per month.

The closure of the skies over Ukraine has endangered not only the business of the postal operator but also the businesses of more than 60,000 Ukrainian entrepreneurs who sold their goods at marketplaces and sent orders by Ukrposhta. For them, the inability to deliver abroad meant a sharp decline in revenue. And this was against the background of the war and the general decline of the country's economy due to the invasion of Russian troops.

But in two weeks, the situation changed dramatically. On March 8, Ukrposhta sent the first charter plane with Ukrainian exports to the United States. Less than two weeks after the start of the war, Ukrposhta, together with its longtime partner, the Ukrainian airline WindRose, has resumed direct charter flights to the United States. To make it possible to deliver Ukrainian goods abroad, WindRose has agreed with Polish airports in Warsaw and Lublin to agree to accept and service a Ukrainian-flagged aircraft during the war, which will carry Ukrainian exports to the United States once a week.

But this is only part of the story. The second problem that needed to be solved was the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Abroad, many concerned Ukrainians and foreigners were ready to help Ukraine, and the problem was how to deliver help quickly and guaranteed.

Therefore, Ukrposhta decided to load the plane with humanitarian aid on the way back from the United States to Warsaw. Ukrposhta and Wind Rose's partner in delivering humanitarian goods from the United States was the freight forwarding company Dnipro LLC, which has been operating in the market for almost 20 years.

Thus, three Ukrainian businesses established regular communication between Ukraine and the United States and, during the two months of the war, organized the collection and delivery of 300 tons of medicines, medical supplies, and special food for the military, worth about $ 25 million.

This cargo was delivered by 8 charter flights from New York to Warsaw and Lublin, and from there, it was delivered by Ukrposhta's main trucks to recipients - medical institutions, volunteer organizations.

"The synergy that has emerged as a result of the cooperation of three companies that have decided to do a good deed is yielding tremendous results. About a dozen medical institutions in Ukraine are already using the funds we delivered from the United States. And there is still a need. During this time, we have worked out the delivery of humanitarian goods to the smallest detail, so we are confident that each pallet will be delivered on time from donors to Ukraine", - commented the General Director of Ukrposhta Igor Smilyansky

“The spirit of the Ukrainian defender ignited the hearts of Ukrainians abroad and united everyone to help our heroes together! As of two months, we have collected 1,600 tons of necessary aid, some of which was delivered by charter flights, and some - were sent to Gdansk by ship. And the work will not stop there,” said Nazar Kolodka, head of DNIPRO LLC's commercial service.

The cooperation is built so that in the USA DNIPRO LLC acts as a consolidator and freight agent for the acceptance of all goods to its warehouse. WindRose provides transportation of goods to Poland and Ukrposhta - their delivery to Ukraine and then to destinations - mainly in eastern and southern Ukraine, which suffered most from the war.
