The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) sent inspectors to conduct the necessary verification activities at the South Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant.

This was announced by the general director of this organization, Rafael Mariano Grossi, Radio Liberty reports.

"This week, I sent safeguards inspectors to Ukraine to carry out the necessary verification activities at the South Ukrainian NPP," Grossi said.

According to the IAEA, as of June 24, 8 out of 15 operating nuclear power units are in Ukraine, including three at the Rivne NPP, two at the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the South Ukrainian NPP, and one at the Khmelnytsky NPP. Seven other power units have been shut down for scheduled preventive maintenance, or they are on standby.

"Ukraine reported that the safety systems remain operational at four nuclear power plants, and they, as before, have an accessible external power supply," the IAEA said.

As you know, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Mariano Grossi, reported on June 6 that his agency was preparing an expert mission to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe. According to him, Ukraine allegedly asked for such a visit. The SE NNEGC Energoatom accused Grossi of lying and stated that they disapproved of this visit.

Russian invaders have controlled the Zaporizhzhia NPP since March 4. Also the satellite city of NPP-Energodar is under the control of the occupiers.
