The absolute majority of Russian cyberattacks are currently focused on our country - in 2023, SSU cyber specialists have already neutralized more than 550 such threats. This was announced by the head of the Cyber Security Department of the SSU, Ilya Vityuk, on the air of the national telethon.

He noted that Western partners understand that if Ukrainian cyber defenses were to fail, the enemy's potential would be directed at them.

"If last year we neutralized more than 4,500 cyber attacks and critical cyber incidents, then in one and a half months of this year, we already have 550 such attacks. That is, Russia continues to keep pace and massiveness. But we stopped the absolute majority of cyberattacks at the initial stages," Ilya Vityuk emphasized.

According to him, the main targets of hostile cyberattacks are logistics and transport facilities, the energy industry of Ukraine, military facilities, as well as information resources and state registers.

As the head of the Cyber Security Department of the SBU emphasized, the Russian Federation has constantly been attacking Ukraine since 2014. "However, our special service has evolved much more than the Russians. The fact that the majority of Ukrainian systems are working normally is a clear proof that we are successfully coping with challenges, even in tough psychological conditions and a shortage of energy resources," explained Ilya Vityuk.

According to the SSU representative, the support of international partners also helps Ukraine effectively resist the enemy.

"In this war, we repel the attacks of the Russian invaders and effectively counterattack ourselves. An important goal: obtaining intelligence for our armed forces. But sometimes we simply "kick them in the teeth", we respond symmetrically and even much more powerfully to their cyber aggression," Ilya Vityuk summarized.
