The Government of Japan invited the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, to participate in the ministers' meeting on digitalization of the Group of Seven (G7) countries.

As Kyodo notes, in preparation for May's G7 summit, which begins in Hiroshima on May 19, Japan will start hosting a series of ministerial meetings, seeking to hold discussions on a range of issues that include Russia's war against Ukraine, energy, and food supply issues, and the global the economy.

A total of 15 in-person ministerial gatherings are scheduled across Japan throughout this year, the most the Asian country has hosted while holding the rotating presidency of the group of major industrialized nations

On the eve of the three-day G-7 summit, which will begin on May 19, nine ministerial meetings are scheduled.

"The first to come is a two-day meeting from April 15 by ministers in charge of climate, energy and environment issues in Sapporo in the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido," the article says.

In particular, addressing vulnerabilities in communications infrastructure will be discussed when ministers responsible for digital issues meet on April 29-30.

"Ukrainian Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov is considering traveling to Japan to join the gathering to share how his country has coped with Russian cyberattacks, according to Japanese government officials," the newspaper writes.
