L’Oréal Ukraine has started cooperation with the RE-leaf startup based on pitching the projects of the 2021 industrial Beauty Tech track. This is a Ukrainian startup that has developed a unique technology for producing paper from fallen leaves.

In 2021, L’Oréal Ukraine continued its cooperation with Sector X based in Unit.city (Kyiv) and opened a set of applications from startups for the industrial Beauty Tech track. The initiative aims to help startups build and develop the technology industry by accelerating the world level and working closely with businesses.

The startup has already received an order for the production and supply of packaging paper for products, which will allow it to be used for warehouse operations. According to the technology, fallen leaves are separated from debris, dried and granulated. Granular raw materials are combined with waste paper in the appropriate proportion. And already from rolls, the contractor already produces paper bags and other products for RE-leaf.

RE-leaf PAPER Technology competed for the opportunity to work with a popular beauty brand. The focus was on innovative, environmentally friendly solutions for the beauty industry.

Kateryna Zakharash, Corporate Communications Director, L'Oréal Ukraine

"We have been cooperating with Sector X for over two years. Following the results of 2020, L'Oréal Ukraine continued to work with the startup Supplio and used the first module of the automated CRM platform to replenish stocks of goods.

All our activities are integrated according to the model of sustainable development. In 2020, the L’Oréal Group reduced waste generation by 48% and tripled printing in Ukraine. We have already launched in Ukraine recycled plastic packaging, a cardboard tube, a system for refilling the bottle with fragrance, and 6 of our brands have already joined the initiative to sort packaging for cosmetic products. Therefore, we are happy to announce a partnership with RE-leaf as the next step towards sustainable development."

L'Oréal also works with STATION F, the largest startup campus in Paris, and Founders Factory, a leading digital accelerator in London.

We will recall that the technology of creating paper from fallen leaves Re-Leaf developed by Ukrainian Valentin Frechka. The first industrial batch of 1.5 tons was produced in 2020 at the Zhytomyr Cardboard Plant. In May 2021, the startup launched an online shop.
