Petro Chernyk: What to expect from the Transnistrian section of the border

"In my opinion, the part of Transnistria has a certain combat potential of the so-called peacekeeping corps or the remains of the Soviet 14th Army. Their exit to our side is unlikely, they are poorly prepared, seriously demotivated, but at least 10 battalion-tactical groups, from 5 to 8 thousand personnel, they may be able to put into service," said a military analyst during a briefing at the Military Media Center Colonel Petro Chernyk.

According to the expert, another version of the development of events is more likely:

"Most likely, a crazy act of attack on Moldova is possible. In my opinion, the enemy believes that by destabilizing the situation in Moldova, by implementing a certain combat operation there, and this is already the direct underbelly of the southern flank of NATO itself, I mean the direct borders with Romania, they will be able to trade with Brussels in this way: they say, we are stopping this destabilization, and you put pressure on the Ukrainians to bring them to the negotiating table. They critically need this," the expert emphasized.

At one time, Ukraine was a party that participated in the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, so such a platform may appear to the Russian Federation as suitable for negotiations.

"Will they manage this madness? I will use the words of the Roman philosopher Cicero: "The closer the collapse of the empire, the crazier their actions," said Petro Chernyk. — "Will it have a serious international effect? In my opinion, no. Russians have lived in their distorted reality for a long time and do not understand what is happening around them. To a certain extent, the reason for this war is that they did not realize how the Ukrainians would fight back. At the same time, we cannot underestimate these crazy people. Regarding our readiness to repel a potential threat, I am confident that we will do everything at the highest level."
