The French authorities have restricted access to the Château de Vincennes for Russians, according to Agence France-Presse.

According to the agency, the castle is the headquarters of the historical service of the defense of France, which manages military archives - therefore, the castle is jointly run by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Defense.

Due to the invasion of Ukraine, the military department explained that the Russians have limited access to “military premises” under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense.

AFP writes that two Russian women were denied entry to the castle at the end of July. According to them, the guards asked them to show their passports and then told them that they could not get through. In response to a question about the reasons, the guard said: “Because you are Russians.”

The French Ministry of Defense press service told RIA Novosti that the ban on visiting the Château de Vincennes for Russians is connected with the "indiscriminate application of the rules" adopted against French military facilities after the start of the war in Ukraine. “Of course, it cannot be applied equally to both strategic buildings and places open to the public, such as museums,” the agency said. The Château de Vincennes said they would start letting Russians in again from August 10.
