Karateka Anita Serogina became a silver medalist of the world championship, which takes place in Dubai. This is the highest achievement in the history of Ukrainian karate in women's competitions.


In the competition's final in the category "up to 61 kg" Anita Serogina (coach - Alexander Tonkoshkur) lost to the Olympic champion, the current world and European champion - Jovan Prekovic from Serbia - 1: 2. Anita led 1-0 after a handball 1.20 before the end of the fight. But then missed two similar strikes last 10 seconds before the end.

By the way, in 2012 Anita opened the score for medals of Ukrainian karatekas at major international competitions, becoming a silver medalist of the European Championship. And the first Ukrainian medalist of the World Championship was another representative of the Odessa region - Iryna Zaretska from Odessa (coach - Denis Morozov), who in 2014 became a bronze medalist.
