The Ocean Race is a race around the world that has been held since 1973 and is one of the most popular at the level of the Olympic Games and America’s Cup.
On January 15, 6 boats will start. Each crew has 10 yachtsmen + a reporter:
- Mirpuri Foundation Racing Team, Portugal
- Ambersail 2, Lithuania
- Team JAJO, Netherlands
- WindWhisper Racing Team, Poland
- Viva México, Mexico
- Austrian Ocean Racing powered by Team Genova, Austria
Great emphasis is placed on crew diversity. Starting with the Volvo Ocean Race 2017/18, the organizers encourage the participation of women and young yachtsmen. In The Ocean Race, this is a mandatory rule, so every boat has young boys and girls (the youngest is 17 years old).
In the OC65 class, we would like to pay special attention to the crew from Lithuania – Ambersail 2. And not only because Anastasia Kolesnichenko and Sofia Naumenko from Ukraine are in their team
For 10 years, Ambersail 2 pursued their dream of becoming participants in The Ocean Race, but their main mission was to help our country. In cooperation with the United 24 Foundation, Ambersail 2 reminds every spectator and fan of the regatta about the invasion of Ukraine and invites them to contribute to the restoration of the consequences of the war.
We heartily congratulate each member of the team:
- Rokas Milevičius (captain)
- Saulius Pajarskas
- Domantas Juškevicius
- Wiktor Kobryn
- Sofia Naumenko
- Jonas Drąsutavičius
- Martin Volkovicki
- Anastasia Kolesnichenko
- Martynas Karpavičius
