The National Police have charged the commander of Russian paratroopers involved in the shooting of civilians at the intersection of Vokzalna and Yablunska streets in Bucha between March 5 and 9, 2022.

This was reported by the press service of the National Police.

According to the police, among the civilians killed by the Russians were women, men, and children aged 14 to 69. They were shot with automatic weapons and combat vehicles while trying to get to work, reach relatives, evacuate their families from the combat zone, or simply find food.

The investigation established all the circumstances of this war crime and identified all the Russian soldiers involved in the killings. These were 12 paratroopers from the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment from Pskov. Their commander ordered them to secure a sector at the intersection of Vokzalna and Yablunska streets and to open fire on anyone within their line of sight. He personally oversaw the execution of the order, instructed the soldiers on establishing firing positions, and supervised their shifts.

Evidence has been collected confirming the commander’s order to shoot civilians. Investigators have charged him with issuing orders that violate the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional killing. If convicted, the commander faces life imprisonment.
