On July 29, the ReSkill UA educational project was launched, aiming to train 30,000 Ukrainians and help them acquire new professions. The initiative, supported by USAID’s “Competitive Economy of Ukraine” program and facilitated by the Ministry of Economy, is a collaboration between Happy Monday and the international platform Coursera.
Deputy Minister of Economy Tetiana Berezhna announced the project during its presentation, joined by USAID Acting Mission Director Theodora Dell, Happy Monday CEO Anna Mazur, Coursera CEO Jeff Maggioncalda, and various Ukrainian employers, business associations, and education experts.
Berezhna emphasized the government's goal to improve the labor market by supporting training programs that equip Ukrainians with in-demand skills and create opportunities for those returning to Ukraine due to the war. “ReSkill UA will provide training and career change opportunities for 30,000 Ukrainians,” she stated.
The ReSkill UA program offers free online training across 11 educational areas, catering to both beginners and professionals seeking to change or expand their careers. Participants will receive mentoring support, career consultations, and access to international certification from Coursera. They will also benefit from employment opportunities such as job fairs and internships.
Theodora Dell highlighted the program's impact beyond numbers, showcasing how creative solutions developed in Ukraine with global partners can address immediate workforce needs and foster growth.
Anna Mazur underscored the project's significance for the Ukrainian labor market, noting impressive early results: 9,500 registrations, 4,100 participants starting their training, and 500 completing certification programs.
The event also addressed structural unemployment and ways to overcome it, discussing the collaboration between businesses and educational institutions to create relevant training programs and meet labor market needs.
Registration for the ReSkill UA program is ongoing, offering opportunities to gain skills in one of 11 areas at any time without application deadlines.
