60 Ukrainian citizens have returned to Ukraine from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories.

This was reported on Telegram by Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights. The return of citizens followed Lubinets’ meeting with Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova, as well as with the heads of the International Committee of the Red Cross missions in Ukraine and Russia.

According to Lubinets, during the meeting, 2,000 parcels of humanitarian aid for Ukrainian prisoners of war were delivered, along with letters from their relatives. Agreements were reached on the verification of persons missing under special circumstances, and relevant lists were exchanged. Lists of specific categories of citizens, including the severely wounded and seriously ill, were also provided.

The meeting separately addressed the return of unlawfully detained Ukrainian civilians and Ukrainian prisoners of war sentenced in Russia. Lists were exchanged. Several other humanitarian issues were also discussed.

As a result of prior systematic work, a procedure for mutual family reunification was carried out.

Fifteen Ukrainian citizens returned to Ukraine from Russia and occupied territories, most of whom are mobility-impaired.

"In particular, the return of a 56-year-old woman, who had suffered a stroke and is mobility-impaired, was arranged. She had been in Russia forcibly since 2022. Her daughter had requested assistance from the Ombudsman’s Office for her return. Today, mother and daughter will see each other for the first time in nearly four years," Lubinets noted.

In addition, 45 other Ukrainian citizens returned to Ukraine from detention centers for foreigners on Russian territory.
