The Ukrainian company Military Armored Company HUB has developed a multi-purpose strike maritime drone called Katran.
Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, confirmed the existence of the drone and stated that it is capable of destroying targets at sea, on land, and in the air.
"The information about missions involving this drone is classified, but it has become a real game-changer at sea," said Mykhailo Fedorov.
The drone is equipped with torpedoes on its wings, a multi-barrel machine gun at the front, a machine gun, and Piorun surface-to-air missile systems mounted on its combat module.
The Browning machine gun, with a 180-degree firing angle, is designed for aerial targets. It can cover distances of over 1,000 kilometers and perform both strike and reconnaissance operations. The drone reaches speeds of up to 130 km/h.
The Katran does not require a separate electronic warfare system; it has an integrated system for automatic threat recognition and countermeasure deployment.
"This is a super technology that sets a new standard for warfare," Mykhailo Fedorov remarked.
The manufacturer also highlighted that, thanks to artificial intelligence systems and sensors, this drone is a powerful tool for combat missions. For protection, it also employs countermeasures, such as deploying smoke and heat decoys to evade missiles.
