A line of domestically produced REBOFF Khyzhak (Predator) FPV strike drones using fiber-optic technology has been codified for Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
The Ministry of Defense reported that the drones come in various configurations, offering different operational ranges and payload capacities tailored to specific missions.
Ukrainian company 3DTech became the first domestic developer to successfully complete the codification procedure for its line of fiber-optic unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
The REBOFF Predator FPV drones are equipped with fiber-optic reels ranging from 10 to 20 km. Development of these systems began in 2023 in response to requests from Ukrainian military personnel.
“During testing, the drones successfully crossed water obstacles (rivers and lakes) and flew over power lines at speeds up to 143 km/h,” the Ministry noted.
In 2024, initial test batches were delivered to the military and showed strong potential for scaling production. Today, 3DTech manufactures five models of fiber-optic drones, which are now in service with Ukraine’s Defense Forces:
-
Predator REBOFF 10 Lite 10KM
Designed for repelling assaults and urban combat, with an effective range of 8–9 km. It can carry a 1.8 kg payload. This model is the most effective due to the reduced risk of fiber breakage at shorter ranges. -
Predator REBOFF 10 Lite 15KM
Intended for frontline use to target enemy personnel and equipment. The additional 5 km of fiber reduces the payload capacity by 300 grams. -
Predator 13 REBOFF 20KM
Features a 20 km fiber reel and is suitable for targeting enemy artillery, mortars, and electronic warfare systems. It comes with two battery packs. -
Predator REBOFF 15KM
Powered by a single 8S3P 13,500 mAh battery block (compared to two in the 20–25 km versions). The reduced battery weight allows for a greater combat payload. -
Predator REBOFF 10KM
Can carry the largest payload in the lineup — 2.2 kg — over a distance of up to 10 km. Ideal for repelling enemy advances, front-line operations, and urban combat.
The entire REBOFF drone line is designed for flights at altitudes of up to 500 meters and speeds of up to 70 km/h, although some models successfully deployed fiber at speeds of up to 143 km/h during testing.
