During the night, forces and assets of the Ukrainian Navy and SSU, in coordination with other components of the Defense Forces, targeted the infrastructure and production facilities of the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant in the Rostov region. The attack, carried out with drones, resulted in a fire at the refinery.
The Novoshakhtinsk Oil Products Plant was struck using Ukrainian-made missiles and UAVs, according to a source in the Security Service of Ukraine.
"Today's special operation was conducted using unmanned aerial systems and Ukrainian-manufactured missiles. This once again proves the effectiveness and power of Ukrainian weaponry, including its ability to destroy enemy logistics supporting the war in Ukraine," the source stated.
The attack caused a large-scale fire at the refinery, impacting the ELOU-AVT-2.5 unit, designed for processing liquefied hydrocarbon gases. Preliminary reports confirm that the joint operation by the Sand the Ukrainian Navy inflicted significant damage on the plant's production capabilities.
"Diesel fuel and aviation kerosene are critical resources for military equipment, tanks, armored vehicles, and aviation. The plant supplies these types of fuel to the Russian army," noted the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the NSDC, Andrii Kovalenko.
Moreover, the plant's proximity to the Ukrainian border makes it a key asset for Russia's war logistics.
"Lubricants, fuel additives, and other products manufactured at the plant can be used both in the civilian sector and in the military industry. Therefore, this plant is a military target," emphasized Kovalenko.
