On March 28th, around 8:00 PM, a Russian drone crashed on Veliac Island in Brăila County, approximately 8 kilometers from the ferry crossing of Brăila municipality. This was reported by HotNews.ro, citing debraila.ro.

According to the media reports, before the crash, the drone flew 23 kilometers over Romanian territory. Although investigations are ongoing to ascertain its origin, Russian markings resembling those found on "Shahed" drones have been observed on the debris.

HotNews.ro also reports that the crater formed by the drone's impact has a diameter of approximately four meters and is visible from the air.

Authorities received notification of the drone crash around 9:45 PM on Thursday evening. Since then, law enforcement has surrounded the area. Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion at the time of the drone's descent.

Earlier on Friday, the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced the discovery of drone fragments resembling those found near the Danube River and the border with Ukraine on Romanian territory.

According to reports, the debris was found about 12 kilometers from the city of Brăila. The drone's crash, shortly after midnight, was reportedly accompanied by a loud impact.

Sources indicate that it was a Russian drone intended to attack Ukrainian ports on the Danube, and its GPS guidance system likely failed.

Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, stated that he had spoken with the Minister of Defense regarding the drone's crash on Romanian territory near the Ukrainian border and that the investigation must confirm its origin.
