The Security Service and National Police prevented the illegal sale of trophy weapons and ammunition in four regions of Ukraine.
As a result of the special operation, 15 individuals were arrested almost simultaneously within a day, attempting to establish an illegal sale of combat weapons.
Among the items seized from the criminals were Russian Kalashnikov assault rifles with an underbarrel grenade launcher "Vogneshche," a batch of fragmentation grenades, and explosives.
In Kyiv region, a 31-year-old local resident and four of his accomplices were arrested for trading "trophy" weapons that were taken from areas of former battles on the eastern front.
After transporting the arsenals to the capital region, the criminals personally restored the combat characteristics of the weapons for sale through personal connections in criminal circles.
Two other criminal groups attempting to sell a Kalashnikov machine gun, an RPG-7V anti-tank grenade launcher with rounds, and ammunition of various calibers were neutralized in Kyiv region.
In Odessa, another criminal was caught in the act, attempting to sell improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and hand grenades.
At the scene, nearly 1 kg of TNT, homemade explosives, and a batch of F-1 and RGD grenades were seized from the criminal.
In Chernihiv, law enforcement arrested three more members of the criminal group who were looking for buyers for automatic weapons and explosives.
In Lutsk, a local resident was caught during an attempt to sell combat grenades to criminals. If the sale had been successful, he intended to "cover his tracks" and demanded payment through "anonymous" payment systems.
The arrested individuals have been informed of suspicion under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of firearms, ammunition, or explosives).
The criminals are in custody and face up to 7 years in prison.
