On the night of September 28 (from 20:30 on September 27), the Russian forces carried out a combined strike on Ukraine using attack drones and air- and sea-launched missiles. In total, during the strike, the Air Force’s radar units detected and tracked 643 aerial attack targets:
- 593 attack drones of the Shahed, Gerbera types, and other UAVs from the directions of Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Chauda, Kacha (occupied Crimea);
- 2 jet drones of the Banderol type from Kursk region, Russia;
- 2 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from the airspace of Lipetsk region, Russia;
- 38 Kh-101 cruise missiles from the airspace of Saratov region, Russia;
- 8 Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea.
The main target of the strike was the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv.
The air assault was countered by aviation, surface-to-air missile forces, electronic warfare units, UAV units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data, as of 10:30, air defense had destroyed or suppressed 611 aerial targets:
- 566 drones of the Shahed, Gerbera types, and other UAVs;
- 2 jet drones of the “Banderol” type;
- 35 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 8 Kalibr cruise missiles.
There were confirmed hits from 5 missiles and 31 attack drones at 16 locations, with debris from destroyed targets falling across 25 locations.
