Allseeds Group, a major player in Ukraine’s vegetable oil market, has decided to suspend its operations in the Odesa region due to a significant deterioration of the security situation and a sharp increase in Russian attacks on port and logistics infrastructure in the region using missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
“Further operations under the current conditions pose extremely high risks to the lives and safety of the company’s employees, as well as to the company’s facilities,” the group said in a statement published on Facebook.
The company noted that the difficult decision was made primarily to ensure the safety of employees and preserve production assets, infrastructure, human resources and operational capacity.
“The suspension of operations will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of current Ukrainian legislation and will include maintaining the necessary resources and capabilities for a potential resumption of activities once the security situation stabilizes,” the statement said.
According to information on its website, Allseeds Group operates processing facilities with capacities ranging from 1,500 tonnes of soybeans per day to 2,400 tonnes of sunflower seeds per day. The company has more than 100,000 tonnes of vegetable oil storage capacity and 112,000 tonnes of simultaneous dry cargo storage capacity. It can load vessels with a capacity of 60,000–65,000 tonnes, with total vegetable oil transshipment capacity of up to 1 million tonnes per year.
Allseeds Group is Ukraine’s third-largest exporter of crude sunflower oil by volume.
