Today, ten more of our people have been freed from Russian captivity.

This was announced by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the head of state, this was achieved through the efforts of the Vatican.

He also specified who was freed:

"Nariman Dzhelyal, the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, who was captured in Crimea back in 2021. Olena Pekh and Valeriy Matiushenko, civilians who had been in captivity since 2017–2018. Bohdan Heleta and Ivan Levytsky, priests of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, who were captured in Berdyansk for resisting the occupiers. And five more civilians who were captured in Belarus and deprived of their freedom: Mykola Shvets, Nataliya Zakharenko, Pavlo Kupriyenko, Lyudmyla Honcharenko, and Kateryna Bryukhanova," the president detailed.

 

No further information was provided.

"Thank you to everyone who helped! I appreciate our team's efforts in freeing the captives. I also want to acknowledge the Vatican's efforts in bringing these people home."
