President of Argentina, Javier Milei, sent letters to five BRICS member countries, including Russia and China, announcing the decision to decline joining the alliance.
As reported by Brasil 247, the President of Argentina declared that his country will not join BRICS and rejected geopolitical proximity with China and Russia.
The decision to include Argentina in BRICS was made during the summit in Johannesburg at the end of August this year.
Former President Alberto Fernández decided to join the alliance a few months before the end of his term, receiving support from China's leader Xi Jinping.
Milei, on the other hand, expressed a refusal to deal with "communists."
"To formally formalize Argentina's withdrawal, Milei instructed Chancellor Diana Mondino to prepare a diplomatic but clear message to the five leaders. Letters signed by the president were sent a few days ago, informing Brazil, Moscow, Delhi, Beijing, and Johannesburg of Argentina's withdrawal from BRICS," the publication adds.
