On March 2, as part of its tour, the Odessa National Opera's symphonic orchestra performed in Japan for the first time. The first concert, held in Yokohama, began with the performance of the Ukrainian National Anthem. The Ukrainian orchestra, conducted by the theater's chief guest conductor Hirofumi Yoshida, will also perform in Takasaki, Tochigi, Tokyo, Kobe, and Kitami.
The concert programme features the best melodies of Western European classical music. A special place in the repertoire is reserved for works by Ukrainian composers Mykola Lysenko, Platon Maiboroda, and Levko Kolodub.
The tour of the Odessa National Opera orchestra in Japan is an important cultural event aimed at popularizing Ukrainian art on the international stage and strengthening cultural ties between Ukraine and Japan. The theater is actively working on integrating Ukrainian musical heritage into the global cultural space by creating joint projects.
