After reports of the loss of several Russian long-range S-400 missile systems last week, a new analysis indicates that to maintain coverage over Ukraine, Russia will have to redistribute air defense systems that typically protect remote parts of Russia.

According to the UK Ministry of Defense on Twitter, the best Russian long-range air defense systems, such as the S-400, can strike targets up to 400 km away.

According to British intelligence, relocating systems located in strategically important areas as well as along Russia's borders will likely weaken Russian air defense on its periphery.

"The reallocation of strategic air defence assets would further demonstrate how the Ukraine conflict continues to overextend Russia’s military and strains its ability to retain baseline defences across its vast area," the UK Ministry of Defense stated.
