Since spring, Russia has periodically arrested officials from the defense and defense-industrial sectors, indicating attempts to gain control over widespread corruption in the defense sector.

This was reported by the UK Ministry of Defense on the social media platform X, citing intelligence data.

The British Ministry of Defense reminded that, according to the Russian Investigative Committee, on October 18, 2024, three individuals were taken into custody on charges of embezzling real estate owned by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Among the suspects is the former head of the property management department of the Main Directorate of Military Supply, who, along with other suspects, is accused of embezzling 15 properties worth over 244 million rubles ($2.5 million) in the Moscow region.

Additionally, corruption charges were brought against the former deputy director of the Russian National Guard, Sergey Mileykov, for purchasing military uniforms at inflated prices totaling more than 400 million rubles ($4.2 million).
