Canada will extend a concessional loan of 120 million Canadian dollars (approximately $92 million) to Moldova to aid in the reception of Ukrainian refugees. The announcement was made in Ottawa by Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly.

"This loan fulfills our commitment to assist Moldova in accommodating Ukrainian refugees. It will provide crucial financial stability as Moldova implements its ambitious reform program and counters ongoing efforts by Russia to destabilize its democracy," said Joly.

The Canadian loan will be issued through the World Bank for a term of 10 years. "Canada is committed to continuing its support for Moldova in aiding Ukrainian refugees and in long-term economic development," stated Canadian Minister of International Development Ahmed Hussen.

Today, Chisinau is hosting the Fifth Moldova Partnership Platform Conference, which was initiated by Germany, France, and Romania 40 days after the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
