"The first deliveries of ammunition under the Czech initiative are safely in Ukraine. This includes tens of thousands of 155mm shells, funded by Germany and handed over to Ukrainian partners in late June. This constitutes the initial part of a total of 180,000 units of ammunition financed through Germany's contribution," said Defense Minister Jana Černochová.

According to the minister, the Czech initiative on ammunition proves to be effective and practical assistance to Ukraine in its fight to restore sovereignty.

"Yesterday, at the minister's proposal, the government unanimously approved Czech participation in the initiative amounting to 865,775,000 Czech crowns (over EUR 34 million - IF-U). The allocated funds will be used to purchase ammunition from a domestic supplier, specifically the Czech company STV GROUP," stated Prime Minister Petr Fiala, adding that shipment figures and terms cannot be disclosed for security reasons.

"When the time is right, we will inform the public," he added.

Currently, 18 countries have joined the initiative. The Ministry of Defense signs a memorandum of understanding with each country, most recently with Iceland. Similar documents are already in place with Lithuania, Denmark, the Netherlands, Canada, Portugal, Belgium, Latvia, Norway, Luxembourg, and Slovenia.
