In Russia, due to increased pressure and expanded sanctions, the state defense order for the production of Kh-59M2/M2A aviation missiles is not being fulfilled.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

On the War&Sanctions portal, in the “Components in Weapons” section, Main Intelligence Directorate published an interactive scheme and information about 116 enterprises involved in producing the Kh-59M2/M2A missile.

Almost 50 companies (40%) from this list are still not under sanctions by any country. Even under these conditions, Russia is already facing serious problems fulfilling the state defense order.

A constant shortage of domestic and foreign electronic components, limited production capacity, and schedule disruptions force Russian enterprises to regularly report delays in production rates and deadlines for missile manufacturing.

Even cannibalizing old systems does not solve the problem — Russia is massively dismantling and adapting old R95 engines and components of the guidance heads.

There have been cases where mass-dimensional mock-ups were installed on Kh-59 missiles instead of active radar homing heads (ARH). The ARH is the most expensive element of the missile and, at the same time, the main production bottleneck for Russia.

Despite this, dozens of Russian companies producing electronic components, guidance systems, and other key Kh-59 modules remain outside sanction lists. Their products allow adaptation and modernization of turbojet engines, extending the service life of weapons that continue to kill Ukrainians daily.

These examples demonstrate that sanctions work. Further pressure and expansion of sanctions on enterprises supplying lower-tier components could further reduce the production rates of Russia’s main weapons, Main Intelligence Directorate emphasized.

The Kh-59 missile is now the sixth interactive scheme on the War&Sanctions portal revealing the secrets of Russia’s “death machine.” Previously, Main Intelligence Directoratepublished information on Kh-101 and S8000 “Banderol” cruise missiles, CBTs.611000 drones, V2U, and Shahed-136 MS UAVs.
