The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense confirms the death of Russian pilot Maxim Kuzminov in Spain. Last summer, he flew a Mi-8 helicopter from the Russian Federation to the territory of Ukraine. The fact of the pilot's death was confirmed by a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov.
"We confirm (the fact of Maxim Kuzminov's death in Spain)," he said.
Yusov did not provide any additional details.
Earlier, Spanish and Russian media reported the killing of Russian pilot Kuzminov.
To remind, on August 23, 2023, information surfaced online that a Russian Mi-8 helicopter had landed on Ukrainian territory.
Subsequently, it became known that Ukrainian intelligence conducted a unique special operation, during which they recruited Russian pilot Maxim Kuzminov.
He ferried the Mi-8 helicopter from the Kursk region to Kharkiv. Two crew members who were on board the helicopter with Kuzminov were eliminated.
The hijacked helicopter was handed over to Ukrainian defenders.
