From October 1 to December 31, 2024, the Russian occupation authorities carried out forced conscription for mandatory military service among the residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
During this period, about 300 people were conscripted for mandatory military service.
According to Intelligence Directorate, the Russian forces are forcing Ukrainians up to 60 years old to register for military service. Those who refuse face threats of dismissal and further employment restrictions.
"Additionally, the aggressor is attempting to recruit local residents to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under contract. In particular, the occupation administration in Luhansk region is offering 2.5 million rubles for signing a contract," adds Ukrainian intelligence.
Main Intelligence Directorate reminds that international humanitarian law prohibits the conscription of residents from occupied territories into the army of the occupying country, as it constitutes a gross violation of human rights.
