In order to supplement the units that are involved in armed aggression against Ukraine, the units of the strategic missile forces are recruiting personnel who will voluntarily express their desire to participate in the war against Ukraine. As of August 22, only 1% of military personnel from the total number of required personnel expressed such a desire.
The commanders of the Russian Federation's marine infantry complain that using their military personnel for other than intended purposes leads to the loss of capabilities necessary for the performance of tasks during naval amphibious operations. As a result of combat use as motorized rifle units, they suffer significant losses in personnel. Among them is a large percentage of those with experience landing and conducting combat operations on an unequipped coast. And additional staffing is carried out at the expense of military personnel of the crews of ships of the fleets (flotillas), who undergo only basic training for two weeks before being sent to the combat zone. This further reduces the combat effectiveness of units.
