Military expert Denys Popovich explained that due to losses suffered by the Russian Black Sea Fleet, its role in the war has been reduced to shelling Ukraine and attempting to block civilian vessels. He shared this information during an interview on the Espreso TV channel.
"After the destruction of the cruiser 'Moskva,' the Russians began to use their own Black Sea Fleet more cautiously. Currently, the participation of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is limited to shelling Ukrainian territory and blocking civilian ships at sea. One of the reasons for the careful use of their fleet in the Black Sea is the emergence of Ukrainian unmanned maritime drones. Therefore, they are forced to hide their fleet. Russians understand that the cost of ships and the cost of maritime drones are simply incomparable, and the impact is tremendous," Popovich explained.
The expert also emphasized the importance of destroying enemy artillery systems to advance Ukrainian forces.
"We all understand that artillery plays a significant role in this war. A significant number of casualties come from artillery fire. Therefore, in order for us to advance successfully, we need a significant advantage in artillery. Additionally, if we talk about breaking through the first line of defense, which includes Russian minefields supported by enemy artillery fire, we needed to destroy the enemy's artillery. It will make it easier for us to advance through minefields," he added.
