Russia hopes that Ukraine's allies will be distracted by the situation in Israel. Additionally, the Kremlin sees another refugee crisis in Europe and strengthening its closest ally, Iran, as advantageous, according to Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba.
"It's not about specific evidence, just look at who is interested in starting a new war. Russia. It hopes our allies will turn away. And Russia could use another refugee crisis in Europe. Ultimately, Putin is interested in strengthening Iran, his closest ally," Kuleba said in an interview with the Italian La Repubblica, responding to questions about evidence linking Russia to the HAMAS attack on Israel.
The minister also emphasized that Ukraine and Israel are two theaters of the same war because the actors on the other side of the front are the same. He expressed confidence in the continuation of support from Kyiv's allies. In particular, he reminded that the U.S. government, including President Joe Biden, assured that support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression would remain a priority throughout their term.
"Although Ukraine is temporarily less in the headlines due to what is happening in Israel, it continues to be on the top of the international security agenda, as it was before," said Kuleba.
