Ukraine's Defense Forces shot down 27 Russian drones used by the Russian Federation's army to attack Ukraine during the night of December 16, while 19 more were lost by location.

During the night of December 16, 2024 (starting at 01:00), the Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using 49 strike drones, including Shahed UAVs and others, from the Bryansk and Oryol regions in Russia.
The aerial assault was countered by anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups of the Air Force, and Ukraine's Defense Forces.
As of 08:30, 27 Shahed drones and other types of UAVs were confirmed shot down over Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy, Khmelnytskyi, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
Due to active defensive measures, 19 drones failed to reach their targets (lost by location).
No hits were recorded, and no reports of damage or casualties have been received.
