In Cheboksary, a drone strike on JSC VNDIR was confirmed. The enterprise, which produces radio-electronic warfare (REW) equipment for the Russian army, has suspended operations.
This was reported by Nastoyashchee Vremya (Current Times).
“Two UAVs fell on the territory of JSC VNDIR… One more drone each fell in the fields of the Cheboksary and Chervonoarmiysky municipal districts – there is no threat to people,” the head of the republic, Oleg Nikolaev, is quoted as saying by the publication.
According to him, there are no casualties.
Later, Nikolaev reported that production at the VNDIR enterprise in Cheboksary was halted.
“A responsible decision was made to temporarily suspend production for the safety of employees,” Nikolaev wrote.
According to the Telegram channel Astra, which published a video of the attack, the joint-stock company VNDIR-PROGRESS produces for the Russian army the Kometa receivers that protect Russian drones from Ukrainian REW systems.
According to intelligence data from Main Intelligence Directorate, the jamming-resistant navigation modules Kometa are used in Russian cruise and ballistic missiles (3M-14 Kalibr, Kh-69, 9M723 Iskander-M, S8000 Banderol) and UAVs (Harpiya-A1, Orlan-10, Lastochka-M, Kartograf, Forpost, Orion).
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed strikes on the "Progress" plant in Russian Cheboksary.
