On 29 October, Ukrainian drones attacked Bashkortostan, Russia. According to Astra, which analysed photographs and videos published by monitoring channels, the drones targeted a plant operated by the Bashkir Soda Company (BSC). Smoke was seen rising from the facility following the attack.

BSC is one of Russia's largest chemical complexes and the country's leading producer of soda ash and baking soda. The company is part of the Roskhim holding group, which owns a controlling stake of 57.43%.

The complex is also included in the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade's classified register of defence enterprises.

BSC supplies military factories with hydrochloric acid and dichloroethane and is Russia's only producer of terephthaloyl chloride. This compound is critically important for manufacturing synthetic ballistic fibres, high-strength polymers and aramid materials. These are used to produce body armour, helmets and protective armour components for military vehicles and aircraft.

The facility was previously targeted by drones on 27 August, when smoke was also seen rising from the plant. Russian authorities did not comment on that attack.
