DTEK will build energy storage installations with a total capacity of 200 MW to enhance Ukraine's energy security. The project will involve an investment of €140 million.

According to a statement from DTEK,

"DTEK will build energy storage installations in Ukraine with a total capacity of 200 MW to help build a secure and 'green' energy system. The investment of €140 million makes the company the largest investor in energy storage installations in Ukraine."

The company notes that the batteries will be operational by September 2025 and will provide ancillary services to NEC Ukrenergo.

It is also mentioned that on August 22, DTEK and other energy sector participants won a competitive auction by Ukrenergo for providing ancillary services. This opens up opportunities for the development of the energy storage market and the construction of new balancing capacities.

"Despite the war and limited access to external capital markets, we continue to invest in Ukraine. This is not only about restoring what was destroyed but also building new facilities as part of our long-term development strategy. DTEK was the first in Ukraine to start constructing energy storage systems back in 2021, effectively opening this market in Ukraine. Our priority remains unchanged - to develop green energy in Ukraine, accelerate the integration of our energy system into Europe, and enhance our country's energy security," said DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko.

Additionally, DTEK is working on the construction of the Poltava Wind Farm with a capacity of 650 MW to strengthen the stability of the energy system and enhance regional energy independence.
