According to Prime Minister Kristen Michal, Estonia is ready to contribute to the deterrence efforts within the UK and France-led coalition providing security guarantees to Ukraine.
The Prime Minister stated that the planning for the coalition is ongoing, but Estonia is ready to contribute up to a company-sized land force unit, training instructors, and staff officers.
"Before sending the unit, of course, we will ask for a mandate from the Parliament," he added.
Michal emphasized that Estonia still holds the position that the best security guarantee for Ukraine is NATO membership.
"If NATO membership takes time, deterrence and defense measures must be ensured for Ukraine through stationed allied forces," said the Prime Minister.
"Ukraine's security is Europe's security. An independent, sovereign, and European family member Ukraine is the best strategic guarantee against Moscow's imperialism for all of us. We must show that, alongside good intentions, we are also capable of taking action," Michal stated.
