Minister of Defense of Estonia, Hanno Pevkur, announced on June 11 the provision of a military assistance package to Ukraine, which will include short-range Mistral anti-aircraft missile systems and missiles for them.

This was stated in a press release by the Estonian Ministry of Defense.

In announcing the package, Pevkur emphasized that Ukraine urgently needs air defense to repel Russia's prolonged aggressive attacks, and such assistance is also in the interests of Estonia.

"We have formed the assistance package in such a way that Ukraine will receive maximum benefit from it without harming the combat readiness of the Estonian Defense Forces, and so that we can restore the necessary supplies in the shortest possible time," he added.

Estonia does not disclose the exact volumes of military assistance for security reasons.

Mistral is a modern anti-aircraft missile system for targeting helicopters and aircraft, developed in France. It is available in a portable version (MANPADS) and for use on launch platforms for vehicles, ships, and helicopters.

The complex has a range of up to 6 kilometers and is designed to protect against low-flying aircraft and helicopters.

Earlier, Estonia provided Ukraine with Javelin anti-tank missile systems, howitzers, artillery, anti-tank mines, anti-tank grenade launchers, mortars, vehicles, communication equipment, field hospitals, medicines, personal protective equipment, and dry rations.
