EU imposes sanctions on one of Russia's largest transport companies

The European Union has imposed sanctions on six Russian individuals and entities in response to Moscow's aggression against Ukraine. Among them is one of Russia's largest rail container operators, TransContainer, as reported by the Official Journal of the EU.

According to the information, last year, the company's revenues increased due to Belarusian cargo transported through northwestern Russian ports. Additionally, TransContainer provides services at a new terminal in the special economic zone Alabuga, which is linked to the supply of UAVs used by Russia for attacks on Ukraine.

TransContainer is also associated with arms supplies from North Korea and logistical support for military operations in Ukraine.

The EU sanctions list includes Mikhail Konzarev, the CEO of TransContainer.

Moreover, sanctions were imposed on the Russian financial company Titul and its head, Dmitry Beloglazov.

The list also includes the companies Iliadis and Rasperia Trading Limited. The latter owns shares in the European company Strabag SE, which were frozen due to Rasperia being controlled by sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
