The number of Ukrainians granted temporary protection has increased in the EU, according to Eurostat.
As of November 30, 2023, 4.3 million Ukrainians in the European Union were under temporary protection. At the end of October, the EU reported 4.2 million Ukrainian displaced persons with such status.
The majority of Ukrainians with temporary protection are in Germany (28.9% of the total, or 1.2 million); Poland (22.3%, or 955.1 thousand); and the Czech Republic (8.6%, or 369.3 thousand).
Compared to the end of October 2023, the highest increase in those who received temporary protection is observed in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Norway. Meanwhile, the number of official resettlers has decreased in Poland, Italy, France, and Luxembourg.
Citizens of Ukraine accounted for 98% of all citizens who received temporary protection in the EU. The majority of them are women (46.3%), almost a third are children (33.3%), and one-fifth are men (20.4%).
