On September 24, marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the Fifth Crimea Platform Summit will be held in New York. The event will bring together world leaders, representatives of international organizations, parliaments, expert communities, and civil society. Participants will discuss concrete steps to restore Ukraine’s territorial integrity and achieve a just peace based on the UN Charter and international law.

This year, particular attention will be paid to the role of the UN General Assembly in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, its resolutions addressing Russian aggression, and the significance of these documents in preventing new acts of aggression globally. The summit will also address security challenges in the Black Sea and Azov regions, human rights conditions in occupied Crimea, and international efforts for its de-occupation.

The Crimea Platform, launched by the President of Ukraine in 2021, is a resilient international mechanism that unites governments, international organizations, and civil society. Its activities focus on coordinating the global response to Russian aggression, increasing international pressure on the Kremlin, and advancing the process of Crimea’s de-occupation. The Russian invasion of Ukraine began with the occupation of the Crimean Peninsula, and only its liberation and reintegration can pave the way for a just and lasting peace.
