The foreign ministers of Finland and the United Kingdom will sign a declaration of strategic partnership between the two countries.
This was reported by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen is visiting London on Monday.
"A strategic partnership will strengthen Finland’s and the UK’s broad-based cooperation founded on shared interests and values. It is important for us to intensify cooperation in the area of security and defence, but in other areas as well," Valtonen stated.
The ministers will also discuss support for Ukraine and the Gaza sector, as well as the far-reaching consequences of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine for European security.
The British Foreign Office stated that the declaration would outline the countries' aspirations to work together to address global security challenges and support Ukraine until it wins the war.
In the document, Finland and the United Kingdom describe Russia as the most serious and direct threat to peace and stability in Europe.
The declaration emphasizes that Russia's full-scale aggressive war against Ukraine has fundamentally changed the security situation in Europe. The bilateral partnership is intended to combat Russian disinformation and harmful cyber activities, as well as provide support to Ukraine in its recovery and reconstruction.
The declaration also outlines coordinated efforts to expand cooperation in science and technology, trade and investment, and the fight against illegal immigration.
