Due to a shelling by Russian forces, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) found itself on the brink of a blackout on November 30. This is the third time this month.

The Ministry of Energy reported this.

"Last night (November 30), due to enemy shelling, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant lost power from one of the two external power lines that connect the temporarily occupied ZNPP to the unified energy system of Ukraine," the statement said.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the external power supply necessary for the safe operation of the plant is once again at risk for the third time in November.

"Currently, the plant is only powered by one transmission line. If the station is disconnected from external power, another full blackout will occur at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, creating a threat to radiation safety," the ministry added.

As noted by Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko, this is already the third time in November that one of the power lines connecting the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to Ukraine's energy system has been disabled due to enemy shelling.

"Ukrainian energy workers will begin restoring the line as soon as the security situation allows," he added.

According to the minister, only the return of control over the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP to Ukraine can guarantee the safe operation of the largest nuclear plant in Europe, as each day of occupation brings the ZNPP closer to catastrophe.
