President of France Emmanuel Macron and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a declaration on cooperation in strategic mineral resources, including uranium. In total, six agreements were signed during President Macron's visit, according to the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.
The President of Kazakhstan emphasized that particular attention during the meeting was given to the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, which is "especially relevant in today's complex geopolitical and geo-economic situation." To expedite the implementation of all agreements reached during the meeting, Mr. Tokayev initiated the creation of a working group.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that France is an important partner for Kazakhstan and noted that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the signing of the agreement on strategic partnership between the two countries.
"Over the first 8 months of this year, the trade volume between our countries has increased by 21% compared to the previous year, reaching $2.7 billion," Mr. Tokayev stated.
He also mentioned that France is among the largest investors in Kazakhstan. "Over the last 15 years, around $18.7 billion in investments have been attracted from France to Kazakhstan," the President reported.
During the visit of the French President, the two sides also agreed on joint construction of a wind power station and servicing of railway equipment. Additionally, agreements were signed on the supply of vaccines against rabies, the establishment of a group from the French agency, and the opening of French schools in Kazakhstan.
