German General: Ukrainian defense tactics have become more flexible

The current situation on the front line in Ukraine remains tense. However, Ukrainian forces are demonstrating a "resilient and stable defense."

This was stated by the coordinator of military assistance to Ukraine at the Ministry of Defense of Germany, Christian Freuding, reported by DW.

According to the Bundeswehr general, in recent weeks and months, the defense tactics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have become more flexible, with defense being conducted more dynamically.

"This means," explained Freuding, "that the Ukrainian army is prepared to cede limited space to preserve its own forces and prepare for defense anew."

Moreover, the German general believes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are maintaining control of the situation even during the withdrawal, which is being carried out in a highly organized manner.

To meet the urgent artillery ammunition needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Germany has decided to proceed in three stages, noted Freuding. In the first stage, Ukraine will urgently receive 10,000 rounds from the Bundeswehr's arsenals—this will occur within the next few days. In the medium term, Germany has decided to support the Czech initiative and cover the costs of purchasing 180,000 rounds, which will be transferred to Kyiv in the second half of this year.

Looking to the long term, in addition to the Czech plan, Germany has entered into a bilateral agreement to supply Ukraine with an additional 100,000 rounds, starting approximately from the fourth quarter. As for which country the agreement was made with, Freuding declined to provide details at this time.
