Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi met with German Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity Alois Rainer in Brussels.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH), according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
The two ministers discussed the situation with Ukrainian agricultural exports and the need to develop additional alternative routes due to the limited operation of seaports. The German side supported efforts to identify additional logistics routes to ensure the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
Vysotskyi stressed that Ukraine needs to expand the capacity of the EU Solidarity Lanes, including through longer routes via Germany and other EU countries.
“For Ukrainian farmers, it is critically important today to preserve the ability to export the products they grow. That is why we are working with our European partners to expand alternative logistics. I am grateful to Germany for understanding the situation and supporting this effort,” Vysotskyi said.
The two sides also discussed developing bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector, including the participation of Ukrainian producers in the Grüne Woche international exhibition in Berlin and Ukraine’s proposal to organise a joint Ukrainian-German panel discussion as part of the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture 2027.
Vysotskyi thanked Germany for implementing the APD and DUALOG international technical assistance projects in Ukraine, which are aimed at developing agricultural policy and supporting the agricultural sector.
Particular attention was given to the practical results of the DUALOG project. With German support, a modern cold-storage facility with a total capacity of 1,275 tonnes has already been established in the Vinnytsia region for storing fruit and vegetables.
Ukraine proposed expanding this experience by establishing another two to five similar facilities in different regions of the country.
